What a skill is
A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file inside it. That file describes how you want a kind of job done: the process, the limits and the output format.
Without one, Claude guesses how you want the job done, and guesses differently each time. With one, it reads your process first, then works to it.
Claude loads a skill only when the job matches that skill's description. A folder of ten skills costs nothing in context until one is needed. Install more than you think you need.
